| Description | Seven proteins containing an N-terminal coiled-coil domain and a C-terminal fibrinogen-like domain, both characteristics of angiopoietins, have been identified and therefore designated angiopoietin-like proteins 1-7 (ANGPTL 1-7). ANGPTL7 (Angiopoietin-like protein 7) is expressed in various tissues and regulates angiogenesis. Human ANGPTL7 was characterized as a potent target gene of the WNT/beta-catenin signaling pathway, and is a pharmacogenomics target in the fields of oncology and regenerative medicine. Overexpression of ANGPTL7 increases collagen expression and might exert a pathogenic role in glaucoma. |
