| Description | Prepared from repeatedly washed, then lysed and dialyzed bovine red cells. Hemoglobin is a tetramer (which contains 4 subunit proteins) called hemoglobin A, consisting of two alpha and two beta subunits non-covalently bound, each made of 141 and 146 amino acid residues, respectively. The subunits are structurally similar and about the same size. Each subunit has a molecular weight of ~17kD, for a total molecular weight of the tetramer of ~68kD. Quality Control: All products from animal sources are produced from starting materials from USDA approved suppliers. All glands, organs and tissue raw materials used for further processing originate from certified USDA inspected plants, where animals are given ante and post-mortem inspections and are deemed fit for human consumption. |
