Interleukin10 Receptor beta (IL10 R beta), also known as IL10 R2 and CRF24, is a 60kD transmembrane glycoprotein that functions as a coreceptor for several class 2 cytokines including Interleukins10, 22, 26, 28A/IFNgamma2, 28B/IFNgamma3, and 29/IFNgamma (1, 2). IL10 R beta associates with ligandspecific receptor subunits to form signaling receptor complexes, e.g. IL10 R alpha for IL10 (3, 4), IL20 R alpha for IL26 (5, 6), IL22 R alpha for IL22 (7, 8), and IL28 R alpha for IL28A, IL28B, and IL29 (9, 10). IL10 R beta is widely expressed, while the associated receptor subunits exhibit differential expression patterns (1). The ligandspecific subunits are responsible for the divergent functions of these cytokines, encompassing immune suppression, promotion or inhibition of inflammation, mucosal defense, antiviral immunity, and hematopoiesis (1).
