| Description | Purity ≥ 90% (SDS-PAGE). Rare enzyme which undergoes rapid autophosphorylation and dramatic (15-30-fold) activation. The enzyme phosphorylates and inactivates protein phosphatase 2A. AK is involved in cytoskeleton organization and other signal transduction processes. The purified preparations appear related to the catalytic domain of p21-activated p65PAK protein kinase, and is produced in cells undergoing apoptosis via a caspase-dependent pathway. Apparent Mr: ~36kD Specific Activity: ~17,000 units/mg with MBP as substrate. Unit Definition: One unit of protein kinase is the amount of the enzyme that incorporates 1nmol of phosphoryl groups into the indicated substrate per min. |
