| Description | Hepatitis B Core Antigen (HBcAg) is an antigen of the DNA core of the hepatitis B virus, indicating the presence of replicating hepatitis B virus. The nucleocapsid of the Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is extremely immunogenic. The icosahedral nucleocapsid is composed of 180 or 240 subunits of a 183-residue protein that is known as the HBV core (HBc) antigen (HBcAg). The subunits are clustered as dimers, producing spikes that protrude from the underlying shell domain, and contain the immunodominant loop of HBcAg. HBc antigen (HBcAg) capsids can activate naive B cells by cross-linking their surface receptors. Intended Use: Hepatitis B Core Antigen (HBV Core, HBcAg), ELISA Kit, BioAssay™ is an in vitro enzyme immunoassay for the detection of Anti-HBc in human serum or plasma.
