| Product Name | Caspase 6, active, Recombinant, Human (Mch2) |
| Description | Caspase-6 (also know as Mch2) is a member of the interleukin-1b converting enzyme (ICE) family of cysteine proteases. Same as other caspases, caspase-6 also exists in cells as an inactive proenzyme. During apoptosis procaspase-6 is processed at aspartate residues by self-proteolysis and/or cleavage by another caspase. The processed form of caspase-6 consists of large (18 kD) and small (11 kD) subunits which associate to form the active enzyme. The active caspase-6 has been shown involving in the proteolysis of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP), an enzyme that is involved in DNA repair and genomic maintenance. The active recombinant human caspase-6 is routinely tested for its ability to enzymatically cleave the caspase-6 colorimetric substrate Ac-VEID-pNA. The active recombinant human caspase-6 was expressed in E. coli. The expressed caspase-6 spontaneously undergoes autoprocessing to yield the subunits associated to form the active enzyme. The recombinant caspase-6 cleaves the substr |
