| Description | Recombinant Human Caspases United States Biological offers the most comprehensive list of highly active caspases. The recombinant forms of active caspases were expressed in E. coli and puri?ed, most with purity >90% by SDS-PAGE. Active caspases are very useful in studying enzyme regulation and kinetics, screening caspase inhibitors, determining target substrates, and as positive controls in caspase activity assays and Western blot analyses, etc. One unit of each active enzyme is suf?cient to cleave 1 nmol of the corresponding caspase substrate per hour at 37°C. Procaspase-3 are also available for studying caspase activation pathways and mechanisms. Caspase-2 (also know as Ich-1, Nedd-2) is a member of the interleukin-1b converting enzyme (ICE) family of cysteine proteases. Similar as other caspases, caspase-2 also exists in cells as an inactive proenzyme.
