Core biding factors (CBF) are a family of heterodimeric transcription factors comprised of two subunits: A DNA binding a subunit and non-DNA binding b subunit. CBF alpha is encoded by three distinct genes (CBFA1/PEBP2aA/AML3, CBFA2/PEBP2aB/AML1, and CBFA3/PBEP2aC/AML2), and a b subunit encoded by CBFB/PEBP2b.
