| Product Name | Protein Kinase C alpha, Recombinant, Human |
| Description | Purity ≥ 95% by SDS-PAGE. Chromatographically purified. An enzyme that phosphorylates proteins on serine or threonine residues in the presence of physiological concentrations of calcium and membrane phospholipids. The additional presence of diacylglycerols markedly increases its sensitivity to both calcium and phospholipids. The sensitivity of the enzyme can also be increased by phorbol esters and it is believed that protein kinase C is the receptor protein of tumor-promoting phorbol esters. Description: Recombinant human Protein Kinase C alpha produced in Sf9 cells. It is a glycosylated polypeptide chain mapping to amino acids 2-672 (UniProt Accession #P17252) and contains an N-terminal poly-His tag. Molecular Mass: 76.7kD. Specific Activity: 7,200-9,000 units/mg Unit Definition of Activity: One unit of PKC-a activity transfers 1 nmole of phosphate to a PKC substrate peptide (myelin basic protein 4-14) per minute at 30°C. |
